Kaila Hicks is an Indiana photographer. She is a senior at Northern Kentucky University pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in photography with an embedded minor in entrepreneurship (expected graduation: 2021).

While her work primarily focuses on nature, she is also an experimental and observant photographer. Kaila portrays a unique perspective by photographing interesting discoveries from within her environment.

Other than frolicking in the forest, Kaila works in her home studio. She studies self-portraitures, still life, and experiments with fashion photography.

Kaila’s work is informed by her experience with mental illnesses. She uses color as an identifier of her mood; some photo series may be bold and brilliant while others are dark and mysterious. Photography is a tool for mental stimulation that pairs with her creativity.
